IF YOU GET SICK THIS WINTER:

Firstly, every day go to a juice bar and buy a shot of wheatgrass and a shot of Goji juice.

If you have the energy, the quickest way to move an illness through your body is to:
a) Do VERY LIGHT and RELAXED Sun Salutes - Nothing exhaustive,
just cruise through them, not holding for long, simply flushing blood through all the muscles,
clearing your lymphatics, and getting some fresh oxygen into the cells.
b) Rapid Breathing (Kapal Bhati)- The more rounds the better. Pump your lungs
full of fresh air (and Prana/Chi). Open up your chest. Clear your head.
c) Take Proper Rest - no explanation required.

YOGA AND INJURY: AN EXAMPLE

The point of this article is to explain
how Yogic practices can be used
to manage or even fix an injury.

None of these approaches are difficult,
and if injured yourself,
you may be able to apply some of the ideas.

I recently had an accident in a shop where I was crouching down
and got knocked over by a man with a trolley of boxes.
My left knee twisted and many muscles ripped/tore at once.
It was quite possible I would require a knee reconstruction.
I spent the next two weeks managing the injury:

ASTROLOGY

On Monday 21st June at 9.30pm we will enter the sign/realm of Cancer.
This is also the Winter Solstice and shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.
(The days will get longer, though, strangely, will become colder for a while)

CANCER: The Well-Spring of Family Feeling: Our role is to contribute
to the emotional health of those we care for.

Aren't Cancerians lovely! Usually very gentle, quiet, passive types
who don't like to cause a stir. Non-confrontational, supportive, kind...
perfect family members, parents...though they might be hopeless running the country!

Cancerians know what really counts - Family. They're the best at it, and keep their
eyes on others. That's a sort of generosity that is not so prevalent in the world.
Good on 'em!

This year it would be good for Cancerians to focus on a personal project,
do some art, music, a hobby...and enjoy what is on offer in this creative world.
A good year coming up is likely.

HEALTH REPORT
from Doctor Qu'ac

FIBRO MYALGIA

FM seems to me to be a modern illness, similar to ADHD...
classic examples of modern neuroses developing into curious ailments.
It seems to be turning up in higher instances over the last 10 years.

I once went to a workshop for Yoga teachers: Fibro Myalgia and Yoga therapy.
FM is a strange phenomenon, not easily diagnosed, and often quite different
depending on the person. Essentially, it's a nervous system problem,
whereby PAIN is the main aspect. Some people with FM experience constant pain all over
their body, though it's never easy to tell if it's caused by muscular, 
or joint, ache.

New Age Shirley MacLaine-type understandings might analyse the problem as such:
hyper sensitivity on a deep unconscious level, experienced over a long period of time,
emotional vulnerability, feeling very sensitive to other people's opinions,
feeling incredibly vulnerable and insecure, often.

Not to be confused then with the Anxiety that often leads to Depression - this is quite different -
and in my experience a more likely Psycho Somatic is in relation to the hyper use of the
sensory nerves, and the way they are relaying information to the brain.

Now why would a body decide it needs to increase this response pattern
to extreme and persistent levels? The sensory nerves are all about information
- relaying to the brain whatever is need to be noticed/made aware-of.
If we didn't have sensory nerves we wouldn't know if a nail was in our toe...

I suggest the FM person is someone who has felt a deep level of insecurity,
over a long period of time (since, usually, childhood) about many areas of life
- an overall doubt - and therefore seeks to gather as much information about EVERYTHING
that is available EVERYWHERE all the time, making sure that nothing is missed,
and being constantly on surveillance for anything that needs to be known about anything
that seems important to their emotional survival in this scary and unpredictable world.

At that FM workshop it became clear to me that there was one simple and blatant antidote:
Pranayama (Yogic breath-work). I don't just mean breathing,
I mean a systematic development of the respiration system and alteration
of the deep unconscious patterns intrinsically linked therein.

Square Breathing, every day, for 20 mins should do it.
For 6 months. A fairly painless exercise that will systematically break down
any psycho somatic, anxiety, fear, insecurity, misunderstanding...

Every day in winter I eat the following:

An orange, mandarin, Apple, Kiwi Fruit, a Date; Porridge, sultanas, walnuts, honey.

Each morning I drink AloeVera juice, and most mornings I have Wheatgrass and Barleygrass.
