* 15/02/09 * Hi Everyone, I hope you've found a way to turn the Bushfire experience into a positive. Every day we all experience Drama - to some degree. Sometimes it is incredibly intense, sometimes not. How we struggle with experience and the meanings we give experience determine our selves, health, and happiness. Understanding this can be useful. Both Freedom and Wisdom are always available. On that note, if anyone's got a heap of lemons, please bring some in, because there is a drought on Lemons at the Land of Yoga! (Which can of course be useful) * HEALTH REPORT from Doctor Qu'ac THE WEAK WRIST SYNDROME Many people - in fact, usually women - complain of weak wrists...it's the sort of thing that quickly gets exposed in Yoga stretching... Most often a weak wrist is in fact a TIGHT wrist. Most people are psychologically tight, hence their body's muscles are the same. This is the Law of Psycho-Somatics. The nature of most humans is to CONTROL and the type of human who becomes obsessive about this will invariably have tight wrists. A sore wrist, however, comes about when a tight wrist pressures the whole arm. The first slightly vulnerable spot will have to 'give' to this pressure. Our elbows use leverage, so it's more likely the wrist that is this first place. The simple way to fix a sore wrist, is to relax it, often, mindfully. Not just the wrist, but the hand, and the forearm. Yoga poses expose inconsistencies. Yoga will always find the problems. So One can use the Yoga poses to discover what is tight. Most obsessive control-freaks can't help themsleves. Pain is a useful way for them to notice. Any Questions for Doctor Qu'ac? A deep focus on the Chakras, and their specific and related practices. Energy-Work and Breath-Work. Try not to eat 2Hrs previous to starting. COST: $25 No Bookings Required. * Discussion of the Month: CHANGE Most people have heard some Buddhist spiel on the Impermanence of life and everything in it. While it does seem to me that many westerners TRY to live their lives by politically correct Eastern ideals - even though this goes against their instincts - it is certainly undeniable that Change is a natural part of everyday life - and how we relate to it is the area that seems most important to me. Yoga is different to Buddhism, and is believed to pre-date it by approx 2500 yrs. (Buddha is considered to have been born in Eastern India; if this were true then young Buddha may have caught some tips from the local Yogis, who knew all about the Breath). How does this relate to Change? - well both Yoga and Buddhism specialise in the study of human nature. And the nature of most humans is to RESIST change. In fact, people try to avoid change before it even arrives, by controlling things - or at least trying. Scientists confirm that everything in matter and the universe is made up of molecules, atoms...that change their forms and rates of vibration - just like our thoughts. People like believing they can 'Change the world'... others feel they have changed over time... while some believe that things never change (an old dog never changes his spots). Regardless of how change occurs, it is how we deal with it that determines happiness. Opportunity lies within every breakdown, failure, loss...and new futures open up. The bushfire dramas in Victoria, the floods not only in NthAustralia, but also Europe... the globe is dynamic internally and on its periphery, and so we go on co-existing. Those who struggle with change remain trapped inside their pasts. We all choose our reality, either powerfully, or as victims. Your thoughts?
