* 14/10/11 * Stressed? Tired? Sick? Unhappy? Keep in mind that feeling you recall at the end of a yoga class, the feeling of lightness and deep calm, a sense of being relaxed, of having released stress and tension, not only from your muscles but also your mind... Remember that it only takes a Choice to come back and re-engage with that feeling, to find some space in a busy life, a stressful time, a worried state. That's what Land of Yoga is here for...You :) * LAND OF YOGA ANNUAL SPRING HEALTH RETREAT

Ionizing radiation works by damaging the DNA of exposed tissue, furthermore, it is believed that cancerous cells may be more susceptible to death by this process as many have turned off their DNA repair machinery during the process of becoming cancerous). The whole process has been very scary and confusing for James, especially as there has been no clear direction for treatment. So many people have so many theories, ranging from diets to medical processes to chinese medicine, acupuncture, Yoga, meditation... Given that no-one in the world is SURE of how to fix cancer, everyone is doing their best based on their own specific experiences... With this in mind, James and I have looked for simplicity as much as possible, and he has no doubt that the breathwork gives him tangible benefits, on a daily level. Breathing oxygen into the blood is a clear way to access cells, and at the least helps his body deal with the many chemicals and toxins that his bloodstream is trying to negotiate and also remove. The Meditation is becoming more valuable too, given how stressful the whole experience is. It affords him time to slow down, relax, find some calm spaces and perspective. It treats his body gently, whilst actively breathing Life into his cells. Rest is another key element here. His body has been working very hard for a couple months now - overworking to repair and manage/overcome the cancerous cells. With the recently incorporated chemo- and radio- therapies, his body is now having to deal with some extreme and violent invasions that also threaten healthy cells. So simple health and proper rest are vital restorative ingredients in the process. Thanks to those who have offered their thoughts and skills. Any Health Questions for Doctor Qu'ac? It's also pretty funny: CLICK HERE TO SEE (1 min) VIDEO * BOOK CLUB ALLAN WATTS THE WEB OF LIFE "Let me try, from the first, to indicate the point that we're aiming at... the point is this: That human consciousness is, at the same time as being a form of awareness and sensitivity and understanding...it's also a form of ignorance. The ordinary everyday consciousness that we have, leaves out more than it takes in. And because of this, it leaves out things that are terribly important; it leaves out things that would - if we did know them - allay our anxieties and fears and horrors...and if we could extend our awareness, you see, to include those things that we leave out, we would have a deep interior peace." from "Out of your Mind" audio book by Allan Watts (Recordings from Allan Watts' lectures in the 1960's). * CAT CAFE THERAPY! Click Here * BUDDHIST WISDOMS by Carmela Quimbo The Practice of Dedication Buddhist practices and teachings generally conclude with a dedication. The idea of a dedication is to (a) reflect on the practice and (b) expand the benefits of the practice to all sentient beings. From my experience, dedication greatly enhances any practice focused on developing health, love and generosity. It is a gentle but powerful reminder of our connection to other people beyond myself. Dedication helps to prevent therapeutic practices from becoming narrow and focussed solely on myself. Click on this link to read a beautiful dedication prayer from a Buddhist text, the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life. Dedication * TANTRIC CELIBACY Following on from the last newsletter, my Year's vow of Tantric Celibacy has been expanded to include another human! Carmela of Buddhist Wisdoms has been my best and dear friend over the last couple years and we easily love and respect each other. With that in mind, as I was reading more about Tantric Celibacy (to see this great book, Click Here) it occurred to me that I could share the experience. It's already been 6 weeks of dynamic growth and discovery and we have really enjoyed the experience so far. We have opened up our intimacies, and found some beautiful moments of love and connection, all inside the Meditation that is our larger goal - to grow deeply as individuals, together. Tantric Celibacy is not about denial, it is about what opens up, what new potentials are available beyond habit and fear. It is quite amazing, and feels like a whole new level of emotional and sexual maturity. Check it out for yourself! * TANTRA AND LOVE Tantra is not just about pouring honey over someone's belly button - it's actually about Love. And love is all about Freedom. Love is not finding someone you can have for yourself, to feel good and safe - love is about seeing someone beautiful, amazing, wonderful...someone that inspires you to grow and be your most open... and for that person you love, you hope that they find their own greatest fulfilment (with you or without you), that they may be totally self-realised, totally free to always express themselves to their highest dreams. In Tantra, your commitment is to the other, always, as much as to yourself. It is never about selfishness. It is about giving. x * PILLOWS Recently Carmela bought me a really good top-level pillow, and it's remarkable how much better my neck feels! If you, like me, have been using an old pillow for 10-15yrs then maybe its a good idea to go down to a pillow shop somewhere, and speak to an expert about getting a new one. It may well be worth it. * FOOD RAW FOOD My friend Kemi Nekvapil, who lives a few doors down from CERES in Brunswick, has an amazing organic garden which can be seen on Gardening Australia: CLICK HERE TO SEE GARDENING AUSTRALIA EPISODE WITH KEMI'S RAW GREEN SMOOTHY It's really wonderful and highlights her professional knowledge about raw foods and developing an exceptional and functional garden. What's clear is that her husband and kids eat magnificently and are wonderfully healthy much as a result. Her website is full of great tips and is designed to encourage people, even city dwellers, to expand their vision of food, especially home-cooked food. Raw food is powerful, especially if you've just picked it from the garden! Have a look, and maybe start a gradual process of revolutionising your diet: CLICK HERE TO GO TO KEMI's WEBSITE * ASTROLOGY On Monday 24th November at 5.31 we will enter the zodiac of Scorpio. On Friday 11th May at 7.17AM the Moon is Full in Taurus. Scorpio: Sign of the Extremist, known for their level of drive and resourcefulness when 'on a mission'. Scorpio, watch out! Brilliant, intelligent, clever... and also secretive to their graves! Very magnetic personalities, often because of how they deny, it's hard to access the defensive walls of a scorpio but many will attest to the rewards if one does. This year, as with all years, will be a great time for Scorpios to open up emotionally and take some risks. Life is not a chess game, it is a celebration of possibility, a wonderful ride of discovery and freedom in potential. Enjoy trying new things and acting in different ways, expand your expression and communications, because love and healing is accessed these ways. Scorpio, you already have the tools to survive anything, so why not jump off the cliff and start flying? (Some parts taken from the 2011 Astrological Calendar + Moon Planting Guide, Alle Davidson-Farnworth and Dorothy Maniero) * Thanks everyone, don't forget to have laugh 21 times a day. All the best, Toby xx
